Wines, Arrábida, Sesimbra & the Flavors of Portugal — Full-Day Tour

Forget Port wine! Just a few kilometers from Lisbon lies a region where award-winning wines, traditional cuisine, charming villages, and breathtaking landscapes come together.

Join us on a journey through the Setúbal Peninsula and Arrábida Natural Park, one of the most beautiful regions in Portugal. Discover the local winemaking tradition, taste excellent Portuguese wines, experience authentic local flavors, and enjoy some of the most spectacular landscapes between the Tagus River and the Atlantic Ocean.

We begin the day by crossing the Vasco da Gama Bridge, one of the longest bridges in Europe, stretching approximately 17 km. As we cross the Tagus River, enjoy magnificent views over its vast bay.

Our first stop is the Livramento Market in Setúbal, one of Portugal’s most famous traditional markets. Explore the stalls filled with fresh local produce and admire the impressive traditional Portuguese tile panels decorating the market.

On Mondays, when the market is closed, we will visit the historic Palmela Castle instead, perched on the hilltop and offering spectacular panoramic views across the region.

We then continue through the famous Arrábida wine region, passing vineyards, cork oak trees, and olive groves before arriving in Azeitão.

Here, we will visit one of the region’s oldest and most traditional wine cellars, still owned by the same family that began producing wine in the early 19th century.

During the guided visit, learn more about Portuguese winemaking and enjoy a wine tasting featuring the famous Moscatel de Setúbal and a red wine.

To complete the experience, there will also be time to taste one of the region’s most famous specialties: the delicious Tortas de Azeitão, a traditional local pastry.

After the wine and local flavors, get ready for one of the most beautiful parts of the tour.

We will drive along the scenic roads of the Arrábida Mountains, crossing the magnificent natural park while enjoying extraordinary views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Sado River, and the Portuguese coastline.

We will stop at one of the highest points of the mountain range, around 500 meters above sea level, where you will have time to take spectacular photos and admire the scenery.

The view over Portinho da Arrábida and the crystal-clear waters of the Atlantic is simply unforgettable.

We continue to the charming fishing village of Sesimbra, known for its beautiful beaches, maritime traditions, and excellent seafood.

You will have free time to enjoy lunch, explore the village, and relax by the beach.

If you would like to try a true local specialty, we recommend choco frito, one of the most traditional dishes from the Setúbal region.

Lunch is not included in the tour price. Before returning to Lisbon, we make our final stop at Cristo Rei, one of the best viewpoints overlooking the Portuguese capital and the Tagus River.

Inspired by Rio de Janeiro’s famous Christ the Redeemer statue, the monument offers a unique perspective of Lisbon, the 25 de Abril Bridge, and the Tagus River.

We then return to Lisbon by crossing the iconic 25 de Abril Bridge. This is not just a wine tour. It is a journey to taste, discover, and experience Portugal.

In a single day, you will discover Portuguese wines, local cuisine, traditional markets, fishing villages, mountains, beaches, and some of the most beautiful landscapes around Lisbon.

The perfect experience for anyone looking to escape the city for a day and discover the flavors, nature, culture, and authentic beauty of Portugal.
